Who should attend?
Teachers, instructors, school teams, principals, administrators, superintendents, school board members, College Tech Prep instructors, and post-secondary educators are encouraged to attend and participate. Parents and school board members are also encouraged to attend to learn about proven strategies for improving student achievement.

Do I need to register?
Yes, all attendees must register for the conference, including the presenters.

Is there an admission fee?
Yes, registration fees may be found on the “register” tab. Purchase orders, checks and credit cards are accepted.

Are meals included?
Yes, breakfast and lunch are included in your registration fees. Also, Scientific Learning hosts a Thursday evening party.

Can teachers earn continuing education units at the Institute?
You may be able to earn clock hours and fulfill some relicensure requirements. You will receive a certificate of attendance after completing the Institute’s survey. Your local continuing education committee determines whether to approve the credit. Collegiate Credits will be available for an additional fee through Universities/Colleges to be named later.

When is the exhibitor hall open?
The exhibitors will be accessible all day on Thursday, November 17 and until Noon on Friday, November 18.

Where can I park?
The hotel provides valet service for all attendees at the rate of $15.00 per day/per car. The “hotel” tab also provides alternative parking options.

How can I make sure I can get a seat in the sessions I’m interested in?
Come early. Seating is first come, first serve. We can’t predict turnout for any particular workshop, and sometimes meeting rooms fill quickly to capacity. It’s wise to have second and third choices picked out in case the room is full. Because of fire codes, we cannot allow unsafe levels of occupancy.

Can I meet the speakers or buy their books?
Several speakers this year will be available after their presentations to meet and greet attendees and sign books. A schedule will be printed in the Institute's program.

Where can I get an Institute program?
Programs will be handed out at when you check in when you arrive at the event. An Institute Preview containing the conference schedule and highlights will be published in early Fall.

Why is the Institute held in November?
Why not in the summer when school isn't in session?

It is held during the school year for several reasons. Most important, the focus of the Institute is on techniques and ideas that teachers can take back to the classroom and use right away with their students. The Institute provides the greatest benefit to student learning. In addition, in the summer many teachers wouldn't be able to attend because they are taking continuing education courses to stay current in their field and fulfill licensing requirements; teaching summer school; or working summer jobs to supplement their salaries. We want to make this opportunity available to as many educators as possible.

It’s a local school district decision whether to make the Institute days non-school days. Most do, but some do not. Others require teachers to attend local training on our conference days.

Are cancellations accepted?
No, cancellations are not accepted for any reason. Substitutes are accepted though. All substitutions must be made through the registrar.
