Dr. David Parker is an educator, a motivator, and an entertainer who has dedicated his career to creating an enriched climate for learning. David inspires other to be the best they can be and provides the tools to do so. He consults with educational institutions, family organizations as well as members of the business community.
David received his doctorate in 2009 from Duquesne University in Educational Leadership. David’s research interests are in the areas of school climate and organizational culture. His focus is on the clarification of the beliefs, values and goals that create the climate within the school or organization.
While at Duquesne University David was selected to be a Jackson Scholar which is affiliated with the University Council for Educational Administration. David has co-taught a doctoral course on Leadership and Ethics as well as been a guest presenter in several courses within the school of education and at the summer principals’ institute at Duquesne University. He was a member of a steering committee for the inaugural three-day early childhood education literacy conference where he was also the keynote speaker and presented a workshop that spanned the three days.
David has presented at leadership and educational conferences throughout the United States and Western Europe. At the World Conference on Arts Education: Building Creative Capacities for the 21st Century, he presented Climate, Art and Transformation: Creating an Inviting Environment. At numerous national, regional and state youth leadership conferences David has presented on the responsibility of the individual to enhance their climate and culture. David was recently selected to offer the workshops “Using Five Elements of School Climate to Create a Caring School Community,” and “Write a Story with Character “at the 25th Annual K-12 Character Education Conference
David is the author of the BEST ME I Can Be books. This is a highly-successful 32 book series published by Scholastic, Inc. The series focuses on character development for emergent and fluent readers. The BEST ME series is designed to empower the child and encourage conversations between new readers and the adults working with them. More than one million of the books in this series have been sold worldwide.
David is the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award of the National Council on Communicative Disorders. He has received numerous community service awards including the Richard Follett Memorial Award from the Pittsburgh Speech Hearing and Deaf Center.
David received his Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work at the State University of New York, Brockport and his Master’s in Education with an major focus on Instructional Technology from American InterContinental University. He is a member of the National Staff Development Council, Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
David lives in Pittsburgh PA he was born and raised in Queens NYC. He is the second oldest of five siblings and has eleven nieces and nephews. David enjoys the theater, urban architecture and golfing
